NEMO 2027 WILL BE READY SOON

It is an ancient Questioner,

And he setteth seventy three.

'By thy short grey beard and glitt'ring eye,

Why still torments thou me?'

The email that has just arrived

Announces: NEMO SOON —

Part of you says 'Hurray, Hurray!'

Part cries, 'That grey-beard loon!

'He'll spoil my sleep, and make me scour

Anthologies galore,

My brain will dry, I'll nearly die,

I've tried it all before!'

The Wedding Guest, despite the feast,

Is working on a quote:

I think June 2 is Wyndham Lewis,

Or is it Wendy Cope?

The questioner, with glitt'ring eye,

Mutters 'Try Henry James':

The Wedding Guest just beats his breast

And cries, 'Each page the same!

'Each has six quotes I think I've read,

But none is what I thought;

I turn each page with fear and dread,

For NEMO has me caught.

'I cannot choose but try again,

Next time I'll find them all.

I'll strain my eyes to win first prize,

I'll answer NEMO's call!'
